Caring for our Environment

Protecting our environment is essential to the health, safety, and future of every community in Wisconsin’s 3rd District. Climate change is already affecting our region; bringing heavier rains, more flooding, and worsening air quality. As your member of Congress, I will fight for clean air, safe water, healthy land, and a sustainable future for all.
My legislative priorities include:

  • Restoring the full intent of the Clean Water Act of 1972 so every river, lake, and stream receives the protections it deserves.
  • Supporting farmers with incentives for conservation practices such as managed grazing, cover cropping, low- or no-till farming, and nutrient management plans.
  • Advancing a clean, diversified energy economy by expanding renewable energy, improving efficiency, and modernizing infrastructure to reduce emissions.
  • Protecting clean air by strengthening air-quality standards and reducing pollution that harms rural and urban communities alike.
  • Helping local communities test and treat their ground and well water, and taking aggressive action on PFAS, nitrate contamination, and other threats to public health.
Protecting Our Public Lands

Our public lands are central to Wisconsin’s identity; places where we hike, hunt, fish, and connect with nature. They support local economies, protect wildlife, and provide clean water. These shared spaces must be protected for everyone, not sold off for short-term profit.

Attempts to weaken protections like the Roadless Rule and open public land to large-scale development threaten these irreplaceable places. I will fight to keep public lands public; preserving access, defending conservation laws, and ensuring these areas remain healthy and open for future generations.

Foreign Policy

U.S. foreign policy must prioritize human rights, diplomacy, and global cooperation not endless wars or reckless decisions that alienate our allies.

I support:

  • Reassert Congressional Authority on War: End and prevent open-ended conflicts and re-affirm Congress’s constitutional role through continued work on re-analyzing Authorization for Use of Military Force
  • Condition All Aid on Human Rights: Enforce existing laws prohibiting military aid to foreign security units and suspend all aid to countries and/or militaries credibly found to be committing war crimes or genocide
  • Reinstate USAID: Administer humanitarian aid and disaster relief as well as global health initiatives when globally necessary
  • Lead on global challenges like climate change, pandemics, and humanitarian aid.
Gun Safety

Most gun owners in Wisconsin are responsible and traditions like hunting are important here. And we can’t ignore that guns are too often used in suicides, domestic violence, and heartbreaking tragedies I’ve seen firsthand as a mental health provider.

I’m fighting for common sense gun laws that:

  • Keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and those in crisis.
  • Require safe storage to protect kids and families.
  • Expand background checks and close dangerous loopholes.
  • Fund real suicide prevention and mental health services.

We can honor responsible gun ownership and protect our loved ones at the same time because every family deserves to feel safe.

Reproductive Freedom

Reproductive Freedom Is Fundamental

Reproductive decisions are personal healthcare decisions, and they belong to women and their doctors not the government. We must protect every woman’s right to make decisions about her body without interference, judgment, or political obstruction.
I will fight for a future where reproductive freedom is guaranteed no matter your income, zip code, or background.

That means:

  • Codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law to guarantee the right to safe, legal abortion nationwide and prevent extremist politicians from stripping away fundamental rights.
  • Guaranteeing universal access to birth control including emergency contraception with no barriers, because reproductive freedom means the power to decide if, when, and how to start a family.
  • Protecting and expanding access to abortion care, including rural and underserved areas.
  • Ensuring paid family and medical leave for all parents and expanding access to maternal and postpartum care to improve health outcomes for moms and babies.
  • Strengthening legal protections for healthcare providers who deliver reproductive health services including abortion and ensuring their work is free from harassment, violence, or criminalization.

Reproductive freedom is not a single issue it’s a matter of privacy, health, equity, and dignity. I will never stop fighting to ensure that every person has the power to control their body, their future, and their life.

Education

As a mom, a community leader, and someone who believes deeply in the power of public education, I oppose any proposal that reduces or diverts money and supports from students and public education to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.

Here’s what I’m fighting for:

  • Protect and fully fund public schools: so every child has the resources they need to succeed. This also means I reject the creation of a federal school voucher tax credit. Or using public dollars to fund private schools that are not held to the same standards or accountability as public schools. We have already seen how vouchers damage local public schools throughout Wisconsin.
  • Local control, not extremist interference: parents, teachers, and school boards should decide what’s best for their kids, not DC politicians.
  • Inclusive, honest education: where all students see themselves in the curriculum and learn critical thinking, not censorship.
  • Investing in mental health support for students and staff because learning doesn’t happen without safety and well-being.
  • Investing in student financial aid and college affordability: everyone deserves a shot at getting the training and education for their future career regardless of background or status.

Public education is what levels the playing field between families with varying means. Let’s keep it strong so all families can thrive.

Supporting Farmers

We need to level the field between large farms and small/medium sized farms. Ensure small family farms have the same opportunities that large farms readily receive. We can strengthen the tie between our local farmers and local communities so farmers get predictable and fair prices and communities have access to local food. Our farmers are the greatest stewards of our land, let’s help them care for our land and water so we can all benefit from a healthy environment.

This all means:

  • Protecting and expanding SNAP so every family has access to healthy food.
  • Investing in local food systems and climate-smart, conservation-focused agriculture that keeps our soil healthy, our water clean, and our farms resilient for generations to come.
  • Supporting conservation farming practices like cover cropping, rotational grazing, and no-till methods because sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand.
  • Ensuring rural communities thrive, not just survive with access to infrastructure, healthcare, and opportunity.
  • Restore funding to LFPA (Local Food Purchase Assistance) within USDA to strengthen local food systems and so local farmers can easily feed their neighbors.
  • Propose a Farm Bill that includes the aforementioned points – The farm bill hasn’t been updated since 2018 and now it is hanging on by a thread; if a new farm bill isn’t passed by the end of the year it will put many of it’s programs at risk directly hurting our farmers.
Economics

President Trump is making things even more unaffordable with his tariffs, substantial cuts to social programs, and the destabilization of our economy.

Housing, healthcare, childcare, and food costs are rising faster than our paychecks while billionaires keep getting richer.

Working people shouldn’t pay higher tax rates than millionaires and billionaires.  We must end loopholes that allow the richest people to amass their wealth. All Americans benefit from our public infrastructure (including the ultrawealthy) and everyone must pay their fair share to invest back into our communities.

I will fight for:

  • Make our tax code fair by equalizing rates; taxing all income over $1 million at the same rate, whether it comes from wages or investments.
  • Close the “stepped-up basis” loophole which allows the ultra-wealthy to avoid paying taxes on investment gains passed down through inheritance;(known as “buy, borrow, die”).
  • The legislation “Equal Tax Act” which focuses on equalizing tax rates between investment and labor income.

*I am proud to be endorsed by the Patriotic Millionaires, a group of wealthy Americans who are fighting for their wealthy peers to pay their fair share plus strong unions, and paying the people.

It’s time to build an economy that works for all of us not just the wealthy few.

Because as Paul Wellstone said: We all do better when we all do better.

Civil Rights and Equal Rights

Our country will be its strongest when everyone is treated equally under the law and our civil rights are upheld no matter our background, race, religion, or gender.

When I’m in Congress, I’ll fight to:

  • Expand the Civil Rights Act to protect LGBTQ+ folks, immigrants, and all marginalized communities.
  • End attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, ensure access to gender-affirming care, and block hate in every form.
  • Tackle systemic racism head-on in law enforcement, healthcare, housing, and education.
  • Defend the civil rights of all, including immigrants, ensuring due process and dignity for all.
  • Strengthen Disability Rights, modernize and expand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to address new barriers in digital spaces, transportation, education, and employment.

Now more than ever, our Democracy depends on fair voting practices:

  • Independent Redistricting Commissions prevent gerrymandering and ensure districts are drawn by independent, non-partisan commissions instead of by politicians
  • Preventing Mid-Decade Redistricting means states shouldn’t be allowed to re-configure district lines between the decennial censuses
  • Equal Access to the Ballot allows every eligible citizen an equal opportunity to vote by implementing measures making voting accessible and convenient. This includes (but is not limited to) automatic voter registration, extended early voting, secure online registration, and strict security protocols
  • Transparent and Auditable Elections throughout the entire election process – from voter registration to vote counting, going to the polls should be transparent and open to public oversight
  • I do not support the SAVE act which will make it harder for women to vote
Leadership Rooted in Empathy

At the heart of every challenge we face whether it’s health care, housing, mental health, or economic fairness is a simple truth: we are all better off when we look out for one another.
Empathy is the foundation of strong leadership. It means listening first. It means fighting for policies that lift people up not leave them behind.

That’s why I’m fighting for:

  • Safe, welcoming communities for everyone no matter where they’re from or who they love.
  • Policies that reduce division, not exploit it because we get further by building bridges, not walls.

When we care for our neighbors, we build a nation where everyone can thrive.
